Facts of Andrew's Life

A year ago today, Andrew was officially late.  My original due date was 8/3, but Andrew had other plans.  This was the first lesson in the fact that Andrew was not just an extension of myself and my body, but a unique individual with opinions, thoughts and wishes of his own.  I'm sure there will be MANY more lessons throughout our lives that remind me of this fact... that despite creating his life... it is, in fact, his life.

Mmmm Pancakes!
Yep, he's saving those too!

ANDREW'S DICTIONARY:
- Uh-oh - interjection - used to indicate concern at a mildly unfortunate event.
Usage/Translation: "I pooped and I'm still in my crib" or "I threw my cup and now it's on the ground" or "I tripped and fell"
- Ma Ma - relating to food (ugh)
Usage/Translation: "I'm hungry" or "I want more food"
- Da da - Noun - an informal term for a father; probably derived from baby talk (double ugh)
- Doy de doy de doy de - unknown origin (ok, so this isn't a word, but it's the funniest sound and Mike and I cannot duplicate it)
- Bottle - Noun - container used to hold Formula, often requested at night before bed and demanded upon waking in the morning (he actually has stopped saying this now that he's down to two a day, but he did clearly say the word for a couple weeks straight)
- Dow - command to be put down, get down out of the high chair or stroller, or request to be picked up (we know, but he just does not say "up" yet)
"Dow!" (Yes, he wants to get up...)
ANDREW'S ACTIVITIES (to name just a few of the most common):
- Walks/Runs/Climbs
- Bangs, drags, and scatters pots and pans
- Pushes his step stool upside down all over
- Throws balls
- Hits and bites Mommy and Daddy (I've read that this is developmentally appropriate, but I'm ready for him to develop out of this phase!)
- Reads books on Mommy and Daddy's laps
- "Watches" the Sprout Channel - Super Why, Chica, Play with Me Sesame
- Plays in backyard oasis or fountains at park
- Goes on Bike Rides with Mommy and Daddy
- Goes down the slides and swings at the park
Oh, I'm supposed to push this instead of climb on it?

Oh, I'm supposed to sit on this instead of push it?

I prefer pushing it...

The top of Andrew's stool was cute prior to all the scratches from pushing it...
Dad, get your ear plugs ready!
Cool!  How do I get on this thing?

Maybe I'll be the next Tony Hawk?

Well, not if I have my Mom's atheticism... yes, she fell off the swing.

See you soon Pennsylvania!
