The weekend after we returned from OBX, Mountain House had their annual Kite Run and Kite Festival - a kind of "Welcome to Summer" tradition. And the day was certainly hot enough to feel like summer was upon us. Mike ran past the starting line on his morning jog, where everyone was still waiting for the race to start, and it was already in the 80's. By the time we headed over to the Kite Festival, it was definitely near 100. Our plan was to keep Andrew cool by playing in the fountains, but he wasn't feeling it that day, so we made due with a short visit and snow cones. And, wouldn't you know? I didn't take a single picture of a kite.

The following weekend, we went peach and nectarine picking because Mike has developed a slight obsession with picking fruit (we have since gone a second time to another grove to get more peaches). I do have to say though, they were the best peaches and nectarines I've ever had... and Andrew loved them! We just had to teach him not to pick up the rotten ones from the ground.
For Father's Day, we headed towards the beach so Mike could do some fishing with his new rod. The day ended up not being what we hoped... traffic was bad along the coast, so in the stretch of road we actually had the patience to drive, we couldn't find a good beach that was easy to access. We made the best of it though, and it was still a nice day even if it wasn't perfect.

We stopped by a farm that we always drive by on our trips to the coast, it was kind of a bust,
even though Andrew had a good time! |
