Baby Blogging... Half Baked!

This blog should catch us up to current status!

Week 12 continued - July 12th – Your father and I went to the Perinatoligist today to see you on a big TV screen and check up on how you are progressing.  I’ve been so nervous for the past month, that this trip was very reassuring and such a relief… because you are perfect!  Although, you may be either a little shy or stubborn… you would not move your hand out of the way for the nice technician to get a good picture of you!  But, that just meant we got to see you for longer and they even showed you in 3D!  (Although honestly, I think I prefer the black and white images better.)  We could see all 5 fingers on one of your hands, both of your legs and feet, all 4 chambers of your heart and both hemispheres of your brain, and of course – the most amazing part – your perfect little face.  The technician said that you are measuring at 6 cm, meaning your due date is 1/17.  They will keep it at 1/21, but he said the measurement is much more accurate.  The doctor was very happy with how everything looks, and we will go back at 20 weeks for another ultrasound.   We are very anxious to find out if you are a boy or a girl, so we may opt to go in at 15 weeks just for that purpose… and it’s really just another excuse to see you.

Week 14 – You are the size of a lemon this week!  I’m now officially in my second trimester and with that is supposed to be a boost of energy and a decrease in nausea (which again, I’m fortunate to not have had much of). My one pregnancy book even called this trimester the "golden" stage. Unfortunately, my indigestion and restless leg syndrome have suddenly set in… only 6 more months to go!  ;)
Week 15 – This week, I flew back to PA for work and your Daddy and brother joined me later in the week.  This was the week we shared the news with friends and I told work about you.  So, now everything feels really "real" and even more exciting.  We can’t wait to find out if you’re a little girl or boy next week!
Week 16 – You’re a girl!  I’ll be honest, I really thought you were going to be a boy… and I didn’t adequately prepare your father for the idea you may not be, so this was quite a surprise to both of us!  I am now getting super excited for tea parties, ballet, and planning your wedding someday… but I think your father is hoping you like camping, play soccer and throw rocks too.  The best of both worlds sounds good to me!  We took your brother with us to find out if he would have a baby brother or a baby sister… I’m not so sure he understood it all, but he was very well behaved at the doctor’s office!
This is the picture we used to announce to everyone that you were a girl!
Andrew loved pushing his baby doll in the stroller!
He even let the baby doll drive!
Although it may look like he's upset about having a baby sister,
Andrew is actually crying because he thought we were leaving the baby doll at the store.

Week 18 – Finally!  You are making yourself known!  You like it best when I’m sitting quietly at night, typing away on my laptop or watching TV.   I’m not sure if it’s because I’m so on the go during the day and don’t get to just sit and relax, but your Dad thinks it’s because you’re a night owl like he used to be.  I may have felt you randomly a couple times earlier, but don’t trust that it wasn’t just bubbles in my belly.  Now, I’m certain that the little popping sensations that are over and over for minutes at a time are definitely you stretching your little limbs.

Week 20 – We’re halfway there!  I headed to Walnut Creek this week to go see the perinatologist again for our 20 week ultrasound.   This time, they did a complete anatomical scan of your body, measuring everything and anything he could!  I preferred when he showed me your complete body or adorable face, but he spent a lot of time sizing up parts I couldn’t figure out!  Every now and then he’d label what he was seeing – kidney, bladder, forearm, etc.  He re-confirmed that you are “definitely a girl” and I noticed you still played shy by covering your face with your right hand a lot of the time.  After the technician was done, he printed up a CD of the images for me to take home and then got the doctor.  The doctor came in, did a quick scan and deemed you a Perfect Kid.  J   He asked if your father and I were going to have more children, and I said I think we can stop now since we will have one of each… he told me to come back and see them with our “whoops baby”.   I’ll explain what that joke meant someday.  In the meantime, I’m crossing my fingers that he didn’t just make some sort of prophetic statement.
Hi Mom!

Week 22 – 125 days to go!  Although that sounds like a long time still, preparations for your arrival are well under way.  Gram, Pop and Aunt Amanda have booked their flights for their visits in January to meet you.  I’ve finally picked out the fabric for your bedroom decorations and started “de-boy’ing” your room.  (Once it’s all ready, I’ll make sure to take pictures!)  And, we also got two new cars!  Daddy had a Toyota Tacoma pick-up truck that we couldn’t get two car seats into, so that was the first to go.  We traded that in for a Subaru Forrester SUV, which I love!  My lease was up on my Nissan Altima, so we leased another new car – a VW Passat.  I’ll promise you right now, we are never car shopping with a toddler again!  When our lease is up on the Passat, you and Andrew can stay with a baby-sitter!
